Alisa H. Bell, M.Ed.

Alisa received an undergraduate degree in special education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). She continued her studies at UNCG earning a master's degree in Birth-Kindergarten Interdisciplinary Studies. She taught in the Guildford County Public School system (Greensboro, NC) as a special education for 5 years. Her husband's military career relocated their family to Maryland where she began her career as a special educator with Montgomery Public Schools (Rockville, MD). Throughout her career Alisa had held many positions in the field of special education including: teaching preschool children with Autism Spectrum disorder in a self-contained classroom, teaching children in a cross-categorical K-2 self-contained classroom, serving as a preschool program specialist, and currently as curriculum coach within an Child Find/Early Childhood Disabilities Unit with MCPS. In addition to her professional background in special education and early childhood education, she two children with needs. Khloe is a bright young lady diagnosed with ADHD who enjoys competitive swim and cheer and Carter is a charismatic and inquisitive young boy diagnosed with a Speech Language Impairment, ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder. Alisa enjoys working with children and families to ensure that they are able to successfully navigate the world of specialized education services.

Ebonie Hicks, M.Ed., BCBA

Ebonie graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education and a concentration in English.  She relocated to Knightdale NC , where she taught for 6 years for Wake County Public School System.  Ebonie served as the lead teacher in a self-contained Autism classroom for students in Kindergarten-2nd grade. Serving individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families was something that she was passionate about and decided to look at other ways to serve the population outside of the school system. Ebonie started her Master's program in foundations of behavior analysis at the University of Cincinnati in January 2017. During this time she continued to work full time as a Special Education teacher while simultaneously working part time  as a Registered Behavior Technician providing 1:1 applied behavior analysis therapy to clients that she worked with in their natural environment. While working as an RBT, Ebonie began accruing fieldwork supervision hours that were necessary to obtain the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential. In August 2018, Ebonie graduated with her Masters degree and decided that it would be her last year teaching for WCPSS and living in North Carolina. She relocated to Virginia and taught at the Virginia School of Autism while finishing up her fieldwork supervision hours.  In February 2020, Ebonie sat and passed the exam and officially became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.  She has been working since August 2020 as a clinical supervisor at the Applied Behavior Analysis company Acorn Health where she continues to do what she loves which is working with individuals diagnosed with ASD and their families.

Ivorie Hicks, M.Ed., BCBA

Ivorie received her bachelors' degree in special education from the University of Greensboro. Right after graduation, Ivorie began teaching for the Wake County School System, where she taught in a  K-2 emotional disability classroom for one year and then transitioned into a K-2 intellectual disability classroom for her remaining 5 years in Wake County. Toward the end of her teaching career for Wake County, Ivorie decided that she wanted to make an even more meaning impact for the special needs population, so she began her M.Ed. program at the University of Cincinnati for Behavior Analysis and graduated in August 2018. Immediately after graduation, Ivorie began accruing hours as as Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to obtain the certification to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). In February 2020, she became Board Certified and started her journey as a BCBA in August of 2020. Ivorie currently works as a BCBA in an early learning clinic in Lanham, Maryland where she enjoys disseminating her knowledge and expertise to parents and therapists.
